Partnerships

diagram

The Center offers a variety of vehicles through which different entities can partner with. Its Partnership Programs allow you to engage in different Center’s activities at different levels, license technologies, contract to use facilities and equipment, attend seminars, and gain access to the latest research and innovation. Partners can contribute to the Center by sponsoring employees or students to work directly in the Center, and provide real-time comments on center operation and research thrusts. They can also collaborate with the center to pursue state or government grants of joint interest. The Center also anticipates attention and support by different sponsors to enrich Center’s research. Sponsors may similarly choose to become involved.

The Center is establishing an advisory board consisting of invited experts and representatives from industry, government and academia, to assess and reshape the Center programs. The center researchers consult advisory board members informally throughout the year, and the board has a formal face-to-face meeting once per year around each Center annual meeting. The advisory board can evaluate the Center’s progress toward the metrics and benchmarks, and identify potential opportunities and threats for the Center to pursue. The Center is also engaged in relevant standardization activities such as IEEE Visible Light Communications (802.15.7 TG) to track the commercial application requirements.

In addition to regular members, UC-Light Center also has numerous internal and external affiliated faculty members and researchers to jointly contribute to the Center success.
